IBM champions open innovation in corporate machine learning

At the VentureBeat conference, IBM's Cox presented a compelling case for collaborative development in corporate machine learning. Cox, Vice President of AI models and director at the collaborative research center, emphasized the importance of openness in technological advancement, particularly in the current AI landscape.
Cox highlighted the multifaceted essence of accessibility in machine learning, questioning the simplistic perception of the concept. He pointed out the burgeoning community of transparent systems from diverse origins, including technology corporations, universities, and nation-states.
Nonetheless, he voiced worries about the quality of accessibility in various LLMs, noting that some deliver scarcely more than a collection of data points without openness in their creation techniques.
